The rise of the connected worker: implications for maintenance and operations in 2021

As more plants move ahead with their digitalization strategies, individual maintenance and reliability professionals will find themselves becoming increasingly “connected” in 2021. But what does that actually look like? Where are the biggest differences, what are the speedbumps we should watch out for and which opportunities are the most exciting? Keith Larson, editor-in-chief of Control magazine, and Ankush Malhotra, president of Fluke Reliability, share their insights about what the coming year may hold for maintenance and operations professionals.

Keith Larson, Editor-in-chief, Control magazine

Keith Larson has anchored Putman Media’s publishing initiatives in the industrial automation space since joining the company in 1989. He currently serves as Editor-in-chief of Control, as well as Vice President-Content and Group Publisher of the company’s automation portfolio, which also includes Control Design and Smart Industry. He holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and worked as a research engineer for Amoco Chemicals before joining Putman. He holds several U.S. and international patents, and among other journalistic achievements has been honored with the Jesse H. Neal award for editorial excellence.

Ankush Malhotra, President, Fluke Reliability

Ankush Malhotra is President of Fluke Reliability Solutions, a division of the Fluke Corporation. He is a 14-year veteran with Fluke, having held a number of executive positions, including Strategy, Product, Commercial, and Operations roles. Malhotra is an experienced M&A strategist, having led Fluke’s acquisitions of eMaint and Prüftechnik. In 2019, he was tapped to lead Fluke Reliability, a business unit focused on delivering IIoT hardware products, software, and services to industrial maintenance and reliability teams worldwide. He holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
