From the show floor: MaximoWorld highlights

To say that MaximoWorld was an impactful event is an understatement. The Fluke Accelix team was thrilled to join this group of passionate and dynamic people in Orlando, Florida. With the tagline of “peace, love and Maximo,” we knew we needed to prepare for a good time.

From talking with attendees at our booth and entertaining the Wednesday lunch crowd with a drumline to witnessing musical magic at Jelly Rolls piano bar with a bunch of friends, we never experienced a dull moment. We want to take a moment and look back at this educational, fun event.

Booth tours and conversations

To kick off the opening of the exhibit hall on Tuesday, August 7, we hosted a VIP group brought around by the Reliability Web team. During this time, we discussed the Accelix Connected Reliability Framework, and Alex Desselle, product application specialist for Accelix, introduced the group to our connected, wireless sensors. The newest member of this family is the 3561 FC Vibration Sensor and 3502 FC Gateway, which were launched during MaximoWorld.

Throughout the event, we enjoyed discussing all of this, as well as how Fluke software helps bring important data — including supervisory control and data acquisition and other process and control data — into Maximo. The energy of Maximo users was contagious, and we appreciated the opportunity to learn more about their needs and gain insight into how they leverage the software to improve their maintenance and reliability activities.

We enjoyed getting to talk with everyone at our booth during the show.

Live presentations

On Wednesday, August 8, Accelix President Dave O’Reilly, and the Evans High School marching band’s drumline, “disrupted” lunch to announce the new vibration sensor that was launched during the event. The musicians were greeted with enthusiasm, and O’Reilly stated, “That is probably the most effective way I’ve ever gotten anyone’s attention.”

In addition to Dave’s sensor introduction, Accelix Vice President Kevin Clark presented during the AI and IIoT Technology Showcase on Thursday, August 9. During this event, Clark discussed the Accelix Connected Reliability Framework and all the software and hardware that can be integrated with IBM Maximo.

Other events included Accelix Enterprise Vice President Adam Kornak and Keith Huffman, CRL, staff engineer with Honda participated in a Facebook Live video with the IBM Watson team and discussed how Honda integrates its data with Maximo. In addition, both Clark and O’Reilly participated in podcasts for Reliability Radio and were interviewed by the charismatic Scott McKenzie, with Facebook videos happening in real time.

After-hours events

The fun did not end when the exhibit hall closed … it was kicked up a notch. From a wine tasting on the first evening hosted by Reliability Web, to MaxStock™, to the Accelix event on the Disney Boardwalk at Jelly Rolls, a high-energy piano bar, the networking and relationship building continued well into each evening.

Next year

With the energy, networking, fun and excitement our team experienced this year, we eagerly look forward to joining everyone again in Orlando next year (August 6-8, 2019). Thanks to all who attended, especially the Reliability Web team for making us feel so welcome and putting on a great show!
