The COVID-19 pandemic has caused widespread havoc across the globe but has also brought key learnings that may change the way we do business forever. These will likely include more workplace protections such as hand sanitizer and PPE, more distance between workspaces and people, and a heavier reliance on technology for sharing data, communicating, and collaborating. Ramesh Gulati is the Asset Management and Reliability Specialist at Jacobs Asset Management Group, Tullahoma, Tenn. He is a world-renowned leader in the maintenance, reliability, and asset management field, and is known as “Reliability Sherpa” in the industry. Gulati is the author of several books, including the award-winning Maintenance & Reliability Best Practices, 2nd edition, and 10 Rights of Asset Management, published in 2017. His career includes positions at Aerospace Testing Alliance-Jacobs/Sverdrup Technology Inc., Carrier, True Temper Corp., and Bethlehem Steel. He is an active member of numerous industry organizations and is a Certified Reliability Professional/Leader—CRL, CMRP, CMRT, CAMA.
