Work Type – More Than Just a CMMS Code

Maintenance coding is important in a well defined CMMS architecture. One of the often misunderstood and misused codes is the Work Order Type. Often that code is conflated and used as a “catch all” only because it is either a required field or there exists a loosely defined utilization of the field. Let’s unwind what is a Work Order Type, or sometimes called Work Order Categorization, and see how to align that code more closely to RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) language geared to drive your Defect Elimination program.
